Learn history throught TV

Hello! Today I'm going to write you about a tv series that I've discovered some time ago and that I consider one of the best tv shows ever made. The series I'm talking about is The Crown - a historical drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

The series begins with the wedding of Elizabeth (Claire Foy) and Philip (Matt Smith). Few years after the wedding King George VI, Elizabeth's father, dies and she becomes the successor of the throne. The series shows the life of the young Queen who had to abandon her previous life and quickly transform into the Head of the Commonwealth. The show is very accurate when it comes to historical facts. We can learn about the political and economical situation of Great Britain in the past and we can see all the importnt events that involed the Royal Family and about which we've heard from the news or newspapers.

Another thing worth mentioning in the brilliant performance of the actors who not only had to learn their lines but also needed to adopt the accents, the movements and the manners of the Royals. Also a big applause for the costume department and set designer. This is one of the most expensive Netflix series.

The series gives us a great opportunity not only to see how does the life of the Royal Family might look behind the closed doors, but it is also a great history lesson for everyone interested in the British Monarchy.

P.S. Rumor has it that some members of the real Royal Family are watching the show and they consider it very accurate and interesting so I hope my post also inspired you to start watching if you haven't seen it already.
