7 Must-see places while visiting Valencia

Hello! As I'm sitting at home, sick and with a fever I thought that today I'll write about my happy place which is Valencia, Spain. With Valencia it was love at first sight! The city is charming and beautiful. It is located on the east coast of Spain and is the third-largest city in the country.

Below I'll list 7 places that are a total must-see while in Valencia. Enjoy!

1. City of Arts and Sciences

The City of Arts and Sciences is a complex of 6 extraordinary buildings designed by Félix Candela and Santiago Calatrava. The complex symbolizes the dynamic develepment of the city.

2. L'umbracle

As you're visiting the City of Arts and Sciences you can't miss L'umbracle - another 320 meters long modern construction that is a garden with hundreds of plants and palm trees. It's such a great place to relax and eat lunch.

3. Oceanogràfic

Oceanogràfic is the biggest aquarium in Europe and every year attracts huge crowds of tourists in spite of pretty expensive tickets. The place is huge and you need at least half a day to see everything that it offers you. It's a great opportunity to see the fish and other water creatures that you never knew existed.

4. Plaza de la Virgen and Miguelete Tower

Plaza de la Virgen in of the most famous squares in Valencia. It's architecture is really breathtaking and it's surrounded by nice cafes and restaurants. It's also a great starting point when you want to see the old town and I can recommend doing it with one of the guides from Free Tours Valencia, they're the best! Also you can climb 207 steps and see the panorama of the city from the Miguelete Tower.

5. Mercado Central

Now something for those who like to try local food while on a trip. Mercado Central is a place for you! This is one of the biggest markets in Europe. According to people from Valencia every product they're selling there originates from the Community of Valencia. Everything is fresh, locally cultivated and sold at a resonable price.

6. Jardín de Turia

Jardín de Turia is a public park situated in a dried-up riverbed of the Turia river. The water is no longer in the river because it was causing big floods in the city so the government decided to divide the river in two parts and the part that was running through the city center was deprived of water. Today, you can walk in this beautiful park and admire the nature and sculptures placed in there.

7. Playa de Malvarrosa

Now something for the people that like to relax on the beach. I totally recommend going to the beautiful Malvarrosa Beach. It takes about 30 minutes by bus and about 10 minutes on foot to get there but it's totally worth it.

BONUS: If you're in Valencia there is one more thing you have to do: try the original Paella Valenciana! You won't find it this good and tasty in any other Spanish city!

Of course there are so many more things to see in Valencia and to list them all I would definitely need more time but I think the ones I showed you here are really essential. You can't be in Valencia and not visit those places.
